Mental health is different for everybody.
My guiding philosophy at Cambridge Therapy Center is simple: mental health is different for everybody. Some people love meditation, and others can’t stand it. That’s ok. The point of therapy isn’t following a preset formula for wellness, but to have the kind of mind one wants.
I do favor certain kinds of therapy. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is probably my overarching framework. Here’s a piece that I wrote about ACT for Psychology Today. I also have training in more traditional psychoanalytic techniques, and did a postgraduate fellowship at the internationally-regarded Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis. But, again, I think the person should drive the method, and therapy is an individual journey to be shaped by thinking about what matters to you.
